  6. Can I choose my own long distance provider?

By subscribing to 808NetFone, you are choosing Pacific LightNet to be your Long Distance carrier. You’ll receive unlimited long distance either within Hawaii, the United States or selected countries in Asia and Europe included as part of your plan.

  7. Can I keep my current phone number?

Yes you can. However, there are four types of numbers that a customer cannot retain without additional effort on behalf of the current service provider. If you have a number in one of these categories, please work with you current service provider to ensure that the number can be “ported” (transferred) to 808NetFone.
    1. Numbers with Distinctive Ring are not transferable. These numbers are “virtual numbers” that are assigned to the same line as the main number. To transfer the number, the customer must contact their current service provider and have the number as a business or residential line prior to requesting the transfer of the number to 808NetFone.
    2. Maintenance Numbers are not transferable. These numbers must be disconnected from the current service provider at the same time that the order is submitted to 808NetFone for the transfer. If this number is not disconnected and left with the current service provider, the service provider will generally turn this number into a business line and charge the customer the business line rate.
    3. RCF (Remote Call Forward) are not transferable. This type of numbers are also a virtual number that is not a physical line. To transfer the number, the customer must contact their current service provider and have them build the number as a business or residential line prior to requesting the transfer of the number to 808NetFone.
    4. DSL Numbers if the number you are requesting to port in is currently your DSL service number, you will lose your DSL connection with your carrier.

Once you activate your service you can instantly obtain a new Pacific LightNet telephone number (808 area code), which can be permanently used or temporarily used if you are keeping your current number until we have completed the porting process from your current phone number.

Service charge will apply immediately after service is activated for your temporary number.

  8. What is the process to port my number and how long does it take?

You will be required to send us a signed Letter of Agency (LOA) which allows us to process the porting of your number from your current service provider. Normally, it will take approximately 7 business days after we receive the signed Letter of Agency from you. You do not need to call your current service provider to cancel service.

  9. Can I use any broadband internet service provider?

Yes. 808NetFone works with any broadband internet service provider.

If you are using Clearwire Broadband you must contact a Clearwire customer service representative and request them to change the settings in your Clearwire modem for 808NetFone service. 808NetFone is a Clearwire approved VOIP service and they normally take 24 - 72 hours to activate the service. Please follow the instructions from your Clearwire customer service representative. You will not be able to make calls using your 808NetFone until Clearwire has completed the setting changes.
